Hello,
I have the original PROTO TRAK, that uses a tap drive on my Bridgeport. All was working well last time I was using it. Then all of a sudden it started oscillating in the X axis. After running the diagnostics check the X reader isn't communicating with the motor. So I opened up the X motor and the little disc that is serrated that is read, has been sheared off. I'm sickened at the moment. Who do I contact to get this fixed or what should I do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn Agne

Contact southwestern industries...they might just have something. Otherwise it might be time to upgrade. Either way I'm sure they will be able to help in some way.

Is the glass disc intact? Is the reader block and pcb ok?

I think they are only screwed to the end of the motor shaft so not a big deal to fix , if the bits are ok.

If not, then it may be possible to replace the whole encoder with some thing with the same count/rev .

I've replaced the entire motor with a different type successfully on my brother's machine , so don't panic.
