We had an accident where our machine was packed full of grease for years while not being used. I've ripped apart the spindle as it was starting to eject grease thru the bottom of the spindle while rotating. Can someone let me know how much grease should be applied if the machine is only used 2-3 times a month? Trying to update our shop maintenance sheets to reflect actual servicing.

see attached for grease photos before & during cleaning process.

Series 1 Bridgeport spindle bearings are supposed to be oiled with “light spindle oil” which is generally considered to be a good 10wt oil. Some people pack the bearings with a light grease during rebuilds, but they’re caged but not shielded bearings and aren’t normally greased. Perhaps your machine was greased as a preservative measure. There are manuals available online for a microcut 837 which may be useful for you, but on a Bridgeport, the bearings are oiled, not greased.
