Spindle removal issue

I have an import style Bridgeport clone and the spindle assembly seems to be getting stuck upon removal

Ive got the set screw and the nose collar out and when I tap on the top of the spindle I can get it removed about one lower bearings width and then it feels like it is hard stopping on something.

This is the first time I will have removed an iso30 taper spindle assembly so i’m a little concerned i’m missing something.

Does anybody know what might be happening?

Thanks
Nate

Good to find out, I saw a machine casting broken with sledge hammer try to move a spindle.

That machine a grinder had a set screw as a locker and another set screw that went in to an indent/Cb to hold the spindle it required two different Allen wrenches to remove the spindle.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually figured it out just a bit ago.

Turns out the bolt holding the quill stop in place punches through above the quill and prevents the upper bearing from passing by. Got the quill stop disassembled and it came right out like a normal Bridgeport spindle. Sheesh.

Thanks again guys
Nate
