    Default TL10 advice

Firstly, I am new to this so please treat me as a complete starter.

I’ve wanted a manual lathe for years and finally found something of quality, for little cash and local to me which I can learn on. I have myself a TL10

The lathe is well cared for but has no power feeds other than the lead screw. The previous owner thought it may have been used at the UK factory for some special job as it has a brass maintenance number on it. Does this hinder operations significantly?

    So, some basic questions.....
I have a couple of 5c collets and a draw bar. I assume standard 5c collets will fit or do I need something special?
The chuck comes with inside jaws only. Can additional jaws be found or is it best to buy a new chuck? I have seen 5c chucks advertised - any good?
I don’t have the original base. I assume these are hard to come by?

Although the lathe seems to work well and doesn’t seem to have much wear, it looks its age. Is it worth doing a light resto, dismantle, repaint and regrease.

Would welcome any advice - remember I’ve got it to learn on.

I suspect that with a lathe of this vintage you'll find more help in the group I've linked below.

And, wherever you ask, pictures of the lathe will get better responses.
