I am trying to machine the part shown in the picture. The actual machining is a straightforward step down with a face mill. Unfortunately, after the cutter clears the part, it is taking a wide loop, which will crash it into the vise. If I uncheck the lead-in and lead-out checkboxes on the linking tab, it gets rid of the green loops, but the cutting part is still looping out and away. Any suggestions on how to fix this?lead-in.jpg

Unselect the radii at the ends of the straight section in your geometry tab and turn on Tangential Extension (add/remove enough here to enter/exit where you want), and keep Lead In/Out on, just remove any horizontal and vertical radius. Use a short straight Lead In/Out if you need to keep comp on.

Other than that, those radii at the ends of your geometry selection are what are driving the tool around like that.
