Hello. I need help with a Supermax Max 1 w/ Fanuc OM control. Today I was forced to dump all the Parameters and retype them all in including checking the Diagnostic Parameters. Everything works but the "X" axis travels to a certain point in the middle of the table and control says "X" overtravel. Y and Z work fine. When I dumped and reloaded the pars., y and z were at zero return. To fix this can I dump the parameters again, zero return all axis, then reload them to get a working machine again? If not does anyone have a solution. I'm in trouble without this machine running. Thanks...

Try adjusting the X stored stroke limit.
Since it is faulting on X minus, adjust 0704
For reference, 0700 - 0703 are the positive stroke limits for x, y, z, c respectively
0704 - 0707 are the negative stroke limits for x, y, z, c respectively

My parameter 0700-0707 are as follows from the punched parameter file... This is ~1989 Supermax Max 1 with a 4 axis ready control:
N0700 P 00038100
N0701 P 00013750
N0702 P 00003000
N0703 P 00000000
N0704 P-00621000
N0705 P-00400000
N0706 P-00460500
N0707 P 00000000

I would say no to your question of starting over.

Your help saved me a lot of misery. I made #704,705,and 706 all 0's. ZRN'd the machine then put in my values I had from backup. Thanks much. My machine is a 1986 Max 1 still going strong. For years the only thing it has wrong is that it thinks it's a 22 or 23 tool machine. It is a 16 tool mach. If it's not much trouble, would you happen to know which parameter I need to change. I've changed all the parameters and diagnostic parameters 00010110 (22) and 00010111 (23) with no luck. But really, thanks for getting my machine going. Brian O.

You're welcome for the help. Your tool changer problem is a diagnostic bit. I have changed several diagnostic bits to control how the coolnat works with spindel on/off and sucha and I know I have read about the configuration of the tool changer. However, I don't have that manual in front of me. The manual is at the machine and I am not. Next time I get in the neighborhood of the machine, I will bring the book with me and I am confident I can help you resolve your problem. From your other posts, I see you had the problem for quite some time already.

Is your machine an umbrella or side mount tool changer? The machine I am in reference to is a side mount 22 pot machine. I ran the machine for years, but now haven't touched it for nearly eight months. It isn't actually mine, it is a friends. But like many who take pride in the machine they run, it is "mine".

Do you have the OM parameter manual?

Hi. Yes this is an umbrella type tool changer. We have no manuals whatsoever.
Story is is that a repair guy left with them many years ago. I was 19 when this machine came into the shop in 1986. I'm growing old along with it. Hate to see anything not right with it. Thanks for looking into this TC issue. You the man. Thanks...

I have the manual now. I looked to see the other information already posted about the tool changer problem. Sudtechcnc already posted the same information I have. The one diagnostic bit I show different fom him is that 483 is "spindle gear will become higher step by step, during spindle at low gear orientation, it according to timer setting".

This book doesn't describe D364 that you mention.

For reference, this book says it descibes the following:
Machine type: 60A/72A
Tools: 22 Tools
Controller type: OMC/OMF

So I guess I can't be of any help in this case. Do you have the list sudtechcnc sent? Can you send me your list along with his?

I do have what he sent me. Didn't help. Numbers way different from mine.
Thanks for all your time and help. I do appreciate it.

The point I was trying to make in that statement was that I would take a look at what you have, what he gave you and see if I noticed a pattern. Maybe the same grouping of paramters is used, but it is just offset into a different set of diagnostic bits.

Thanks. My "current tool #" is Diagnostic 364. I've looked right around
those for a magazine capacity number. Nothing. Thanks for all your help. Brian O.

Hey bryan! hope everything is great.

I have a supermax Max1 vmc with a 22 tool ATC side mounted. Its Atc is not functioning properly. Also there is are various problems with spindle orientation settings and gear change issues and rpm issues. I can just make the axis of the machine move. Can u help !!. I think its a diagnostics fault.

If u have the diagnostics could u mail me so that i can cross check.
My email : [email protected]

It would be a great help.
Thank you

Sorry, I can be of no help. I have not touched the Supermax in years. I don't even work in a machine shop anymore. Those days are gone, but not forgotten. Only reason I was aware of your post is that I am still subscribed to this thread. Haven't visited the board for years...

I had some trouble with my machine too when i got it....I got YCI or YCM not sure which to email me the parameter list for my MAX-1 (they got it from Fanuc) installed it and bingo.... back in business.

Need Help!

hey snocat_trf,

It would be a great help if you could E-mail me your parameters and diagnostics. I could cross check and hopefully machine might run properly.
My email id is [email protected].

hi, new to forum. also supermax max1 with fanuc om control. lost z-axis "machine" 0 and its shows about +34.627 above where it should be. would I adjust the 702 parameter lower? my machine was running fine before. lost zero return due to hand feeding too aggressively one time, now would go past machine 0(using zero return button). got stuck at top of z,pryed axis free, reset, then lost "machine" 0.

mine currently.
N0700 P 00000500
N0701 P 00000500
N0702 P 00000500
N0703 P 00000000
N0704 P-00600500
N0705 P-00400500
N0706 P-00460500
N0707 P 00000000

NO820 0
NO821 0
NO822 -00034627

or can i just change 822 to 0?
