I bought this Gorton 0-16 with a bunch of tooling. I did not see everything until I got it all unpacked at home. The machine is beautiful condition, very little backlash on the screws, ways look vice, spindle spins like its brand new, just very well cared for machine. It came with a Hardinge vise, missing the swivel base and mounted to a plate. This machine uses the Gorton collets but there is full set with some extras, and some custom made tooling. Face mills, saw holders, formtools, and small diameter boring heads all with integral Gorton tapers. Some of these tools are even hardened and ground. Previous owner must have been doing some interesting work. They made Vernier scales for the x and y feed dials. Also came with boxes of tee nuts and studs and hold down parts vintage wrenches etc. Very neat machine and I figured you guys would find this interesting.

Finally got pictures to upload... here is some of the tooling.

I have "PM-PM" optioned OFF, but if you figure this will be your "keeper" mill, PM-EMAIL me a ship-to, and you'll have a few more Gorton extras.

I'll not be using them. I've already put by native B&S 9, plus ER, PDQ-Marlin "VS", and more for the mill they came in MY door with.

A USDA-Choice blue-blood Gorton tenderloin it was never!

KFC poverty-biscuit and soupy beans Burke B-100-4 chik'n wings, rather!

:(

Sorry I had a heck of time getting pictures to upload, not sure what was going on but I was able to do it by moving them to my phone. Still can't figure out why some of them are getting rotated. Sorry I haven't had problems putting pictures up on this site before.

Here is the mill.

Machine came with some documentation, electrical drawing is dated 1952. The electrical cabinet is largely undisturbed. I have a small rotary phase converter I am going to run this machine with so I will use the 2 speed motor setup.

There are some interesting bits as well, some tool holders for the vise, Blocks that would hold boring bars and cutting tools to turn a part held from the spindle, and these things which I think are for machining the ID of washers or similar shaped parts...

The motor control cabinet is like a work of art. Really everything on the machine is very well made. It's pretty basic as far as vertical mill goes but these machines are beautifully made.

Do you still own this Gorton Mill?
I am considering a similar one.

If it's in good shape and not beaten up trashed out, jump on it!
Just remember, it's not a Bridgeport type of mill. If it's in good shape, you will be amazed at its accuracy in use. Ken
