Increasing speed by 50% on mid 50's lathe.

I have a P&W Model C lathe with a top speed of 1000 RPM. Sales literature shows 1500 RPM as a factory "ONLY" installed option.
Do you think I will cause problems by switching out the pulleys on the motor and headstock to get 1500 RPM?

Thanks,
Larry

Quick cursory scan of the manual linked above yields on p.28 under Spindle Speeds: "Driving pulley supplied with correct diameter to produce on range or the other as desired."

Ergo, you can change the pulley only w/no ill effects.

I'll ask something obvious. Model C head stock has pump LOW in back. Do you know for a fact that it is working to get oil way up to the top where its distributed?

RC Mech your cursory scan is far superior to mine as I missed this completely when I checked out the manual on the OWWM site. OWWM also has the Model C brochure where the 1500 RPM is ONLY a factory installed option.
Thanks for the heads up.
Larry
