Hello, trying to figure out if the spindle-off sequence on my K&T 2CK is operating as it should. When I power the machine off, it makes a loud latching/unlatching noise (from electronics enclosure in back). It doesn't sound bad, but its the same noise when using the emergency brake (pushing lever-arm to the right) What got my attention is sometimes when I power off the spindle (lever to the right), the machine cuts power and quietly comes to a coasting stop (no loud latching/unlatching sound), but 80% of the time when powering off it makes the latching/unlatching noise.

Here is my sequence for on off.

To power on machine:
Press Master Switch (magnetic push-button on side of machine)
Push Lever Arm to the left, spindle spins
Push Lever Arm to the left again, power feed motor starts

To stop spindle and feed motor:
Lever to the right
To use e-brake (push lever to the right and hold for a sec, I never do this)
Press Master Off Switch (magnetic push-button on side of machine)

From what I understand the e-brake works by plugging the motor, I know its not great for a motor with old windings/insulation. I just want to make sure I don't have a problem and cook my motor, she looks pricey to rewind....

Thanks

Sounds like it’s working the way it should. My 3CH works exactly the same way. I use the brake all time and haven’t had an issue yet. :smoking:
