Was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions needed to make a T Nut for a BXA qctp? Want to make one so I can make some test cuts on the lathe I'm thinking of buying the next time I go down. I realize this technically isn't the right size for this lathe, but it will have to work for now. Also, what is the correct fluid for the headstock? I have some Mobil Medium Heavy on hand I think. Thanks in advance for any help!

Might call the seller to get a measurement on the rest slot opening. A BXA will be too short to hit the centerline, so I'd make some spacer plates to get the tool post higher. I'm guessing that machine should use a CA. Maybe 3 spacer plates, 1/2", 1/4", and 1/8" to give you options.

The height difference between BXA and CA is 7/8" on the body, which is labeled "C" in this pic:

On my 1610 compound:

Wide width: 2 1/2”
Narrow width: 1 5/8”
Total depth: 15/16”
Depth of wide section: 17/32”
Depth narrow section: 7/16”

(Quick ruler measurements rounding down)

I don’t have any idea on how much compound dimensions vary between the lathes.

Here some pictures

Oh, also, Aloris recommends the CA toolpost on the 1610 and it’s raised cousins (2013 and 2013-17).

L&S seems to have a high compound placement. I'd sure check out a CA before buying to insure there is enough room to get 1" tools on center. A CXA may be a better fit.

Thanks for the dimensions! I ordered some metal to make one. Will make some space plates too.

Knocked one out real fast. Not my best work and my little mill was hating .100" doc! Lol! Just need to find some spacers and drill a hole so I can make this work in ase it's too short PXL_20201110_182117468.jpgPXL_20201110_182649867.jpgPXL_20201110_183358138.jpgPXL_20201110_184023977.jpgPXL_20201110_184216217.jpg
