Anyone have the sling points for lifting a 36 openside planner? Not hard to hoist with the big fork but in the new home shop I only have a 30 ton yard crane. The planner has lift holes on the side housing but no where else. I could make a hoisting plate but the planner book may have a good pix of how it was done, and save me a lot of work... Thanks Phil

swatkins has a factory book that might cover the machine. IIRC, on a larger machine we had slings on each end and one on the outside of the column.

Collector, here on PM, has the manuals for the Rockfords and had lifted his 36” and 48” planers several times. Suggest contacting him.

I watched some friends of mine load a Cincinnati planer. It's pretty easy to find the balance point like this.
There are 4x4's under the chains the other side of the columns as well.
It's not an openside but may give you some ideas.

On my 36" Rockford,
the balance point is right in line with the cross rail
with the table fully forward.
