Hello all,

I’m brand new to the machinery stuff and have a cincy NO.2 horizontal mill with a vertical head attachment. My manual says that the taper size and style is 50mm standard? What does it mean by standard. Aren’t their several?

Thank you

National Machine Tool Builders taper series can be found detailed in Machinery's Handbook

It goes from (at least) NMTB 20 to NMTB 60

Yours is NMTB 50 - which was very common - having been introduced about 1927

It is common for some makes to have a vertical head attachment taper one size below the machine's main spindle - such as NMTB 40 on a 50 taper machine

Might be pubs related to your 2MH here

Thanks a million😁
Now I've gotta find an appropriate facing head and shank.
