Removing VN Cutter Head

Hey guys, in all my messing with these VN ram mills, I have never had to pull the cutter head. So, is it just as simple as: drain the ram transmission and head oils, remove the four clamp bolts, and pull it off? I need to pull the head on the new 2RQ to do some repairs on the feed mechanism. Easier than working with it in situ.

Yes, and on the 1R series you don't even drain the transmission as there's an oil seal on the output shaft to the cutterhead. You can work it off supported by wood blocks on the table. The spud the cutterhead rotates on is an incredibly tight sliding fit with the cutterhead, so be prepared to work it back and forth a bit. I wasn't able to just slide mine off using X feed, it was too tight. I had to tap each side bit by bit with a dead blow to ease it off.

But check the parts drawings for the 2rq as something may be different.
