I have a number two like that, was there ever a number 1 size. We had a really small horizontal k and t at a shop I worked at was smaller than a 2. I have only seen that one.

Just had some time tonight to try out the little mill and found the drive shaft for the cross feed and vertical feed is not working. Must have a sheared key. Have any of you got a drawing or have been in there? Table feed works fine. Here’s a picture of the shaft that’s not working.

Thanks Collector

I really think that is a beautiful mill.

Kearney trecker made sharp looking mills. There is strength built into the design. The first time I saw a KT 2D I knew I wanted one. Their castings were nice looking. All said the quality is what made the machine.

Nice mill. Great find.

CVA made the Powerturn series of lathes for Lodge & Shipley as well. So K&T built the premiere lathe as well as the premier mill.

"The first time I saw a KT 2D I knew I wanted one".
Same thing happened to me,in slightly different order. A new hire, last stop of shop tour "You'll be running this one" [there were two]. But, I've never even seen one! "That's fine, hardly anyone has!"
Turns out, no machine is more entertaining or rewarding to run. If my ID wasn't such a 'brand' it would otherwise be "K&T 2D".
Watching guy running other, that first impression, never changed some 44 years later. What I saw; Wizard of Oz behind the curtain...

Poor wording on my part, as some might infer CVA made all the Powerturns. Not so. Perhaps Lodge and Shipley was unable to keep up with production in their USA plant and looked for someone who could produce a lathe to their exacting specifications. Some (I don't know if all) CVA built Powerturns have CVA cast in the front of the cover for the headstock.

I don't know the date on my lathe, but since its a Powerturn it is newer than about 1956.

I stumbled across a 2CHL, twenty years ago. It was like winning the lottery, good shape, tiny by K&T standards, but still a beast. The BP has seen more use lately, due to digital readout and smaller jobs.

Id be interested to see a picture of said machine.
I wonder why they don’t seem like they were available for the uk market. Seen a fair few of the facing lathes
