2h drive gear for std hi speed head per John Oder from a previous post.. Thanks John!
I’m trying to find:
1. Diameter of drive gear.
2. Number of teeth on drive gear.
3. Diameter/thickness of spacer ring.
Thanks, Greg.
Mike G. (Ramsay1) was kind enough to share the "spacing disc" diameters on his 24 and 30 tooth vertical head drive gears applicable to 2H/2CH
These are 4.025" on the oft missing 30T spindle gear, and 3.222" on the 24T installed in the head assy
Since these roll together and control gear mesh, I am going to assume these are very near the actual pitch diameters of these gears
By adding these two together, we get double the center distance = 7.247"
Making center distance close to 3.6235"
You can follow along in the math operations on page 15 in Earle Buckingham's Manual of gear Design - Section 3
Mike said he used 9DP cutter
Helix angle calcs out to 34.1134404 degrees
Lead for 30T calcs out to 18.672175".
Mike came close and used 18.626" when he set up his Low Lead box. He shows a photo in a recent thread and even specs the gears needed right from the Tables of Leads for the Model H DH
Be sure to double check the gear setup in your lead box.. I think this is the correct setup for cutting the gear in question.. Ramsay 1
