I have a new lathe on order, and will have an 8" 3-jaw to go on the A2-5 spindle nose the lathe will have.
I also want a 4-jaw, with replaceable top-jaws, and tend to want a 10" because, well, my manual lathe has a 10" 4-jaw and it's always been big enough.
But in looking at catalogs of likely chucks, it seems 10" 4-jaws are generally listed as being on A2-6 rather than A2-5 mounting plates.
Is there some deep reason for this, or it is just some kind of "general pattern"?
