So I have a turning project on my HAAS ST10. I'm turning some 17-4 PH H900 condition (somewhere around 40 hrc) .375 dia rods. I'm Cutting threads in them with a TiCN/Al2O3 coated carbide tool.

I've been having issues with tool wear after turning only 5 rods. I'm runnin under 400 sfm. The threads come out with burs and I'm getting a continuous chip with a built up edge.

I need to make 100 parts, suggestions?

Thanks

I just cut some on a manual lathe at 80-100 sfm with a .005-.010 depth cut.
Came out beautiful. .375"dia @ 900rpm
I used a j-thread cutter, kennemetal top notch system.
