    Default Amada buys Marvel

I put this in the CNC section as this is highly related to modern production manufacturing, even tho the units aren't generally "CNC".

I saw an ad in one of the trades last night that seemed to say that Amada and Marvel were one now, and google found this artical.

Amada Acquires Marvel Manufacturing Co., Inc. - Marvel Saws

Another Yank business owned by outsiders.

I have not found any info on the status of Armstrong Blum tho?

Wasn't Marvel the one that was advertising in the 1980's that their saw could cut a beer can in half?

Welcome to global business. I have sadly over the years watched many Canadian companies bought out by US companies, taken apart and discarded. Not wishing this on US companies but you do generally reap what you sow, its your turn. I'm sure the owners/shareholders of Marvel are happy with their earnings.

It would be really interesting if they bought Carolina Tool next. That would give them a nice line of low cost entry level
saws (not to mention Shop Presses, etc). Maybe they could even spruce-up the list with some Amada red paint.

Amada has been pretty aggressive in the past 10 or so years in buying up or getting into partnerships with other manufacturers.

Off the top of my head....

    Wasino: CNC turning machines
    Miyachi: Laser welding
    Toyokoki: Press brakes

I thought I read once that Amada was the largest machine tool builder in the world in terms of $ sales.

I thought it was DMG-Mori that bought Wasino?...

Did some searching for myself. DMG-Mori bought Wasino from Amada. I didn't know that.
