Hardigne GT 27 bar length

Im am looking at getting an older gt 27 without a bar feeder. Can I safely run 36 inch bars? It looks pretty short. Machine is not local so I cannot measure.

18 seems a bit short. I has to do better than that.

24" is about max on a GT27

It measures 30 inches from the collet closer nose to the inside of the drawtube access door. For 36 you would have to leave the door off and its switch over-ridden. Depending on bar dia and bar stickout from the collet it is possible.

If you are using the collet drawbar it has a threaded end on it and a precision bored end. It would be easy enough to make an extension to support 36 inch long bars. I made a sleeve to fit in that bored end to support the outside liner bushing.
Bolting a support to the floor later on would not be too difficult to support 6 or 12 foot bars.
