Can anyone give me any advice on milling/drilling this material? I am in the process of programming a part made of Car465 (annealed condition) and I can't seem to get any feedback as far as cutting parameters, speeds and feeds, etc. The answers I've gotten from tooling salesman has been wildly different, and sounded a bit more like guessing, rather than an answer that inspired confidence. Is there a similar material that would be more commonly found on manufacturer S/F charts? I know it's a martensitic PH stainless, but because of the nickel and chromium content I've been treating it more like a high temp alloy.

Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated. Also, the part gets heat treated at the end to H950. What can I expect as far as movement from heat treat?

Thanks!!

Looks like a jacked up 455PH stainless. What I could find showed near identical hardness & strength numbers. Attached Carpenter machining #'s for 455PH below.

Good luck,
Matt
