Is there a setting to limit the machine travel? I want to put a large part on the machine where it would be possible to hit the guards or back of the machine if traveling too far. I can do all my machining without hitting anything but want a foolproof method of making sure the machine will not allow movements past a certain point. I feel this should be able to be done with a control setting somewhere. Does this ability exist and where? I suppose some limit switch could be rigged up to the e-stop as a mechanical method, but I am hoping there is a method for setting in the control.

Stored stroke parameter should do the trick.
Pull out the yellow Fanuc parameter manual, and change the settings and test before putting the part in.
Write the original value down so that you can undo the change when done.

Found it all. Seems as simple and straightforward as it should be. A welcome departure from the norm!
