I am going to look at a Takisawa Mac V1 machine and was wondering how I can see if it is a drill/tapp or vmc ?
The seller doesnt know.
It has the Fanuc 0M control
Yes it is since the spindle nose will only get within 7.9" to the table. But it is a Takisawa , has a 40 taper, and rapids under 1000 ipm so not really??? I guess it just depends on your criteria for what the difference is between a drill/tap vmc and what you consider a vmc to be.
I had one identical.
It is drill/tap and light milling.
It's not a heavy hogging machine - but lighter cuts no problem. Still supported for parts too.
If the price is right, put it to work and let it make money for you.
For machines that were targeted as drill/tap market the control was often spec’d very low. Minimum memory and offsets. No helical interp and so on. Also it was not uncommon that servo parameters were not fully developed for contouring so profiling finishes suffered.
