Good evening (from the uk)

We have 2 VMC's, basically when milling in a specific direction the machine will scream, the speeds and feeds are correct for materials we are machining. The workholding is solid

Both machines are a a good 12year old.

One is a Dahli 1650 bt50 which is a pretty solid machine, just when we mill one way on this, it really doesnt like it

The other is a lead m50i i think, this screams on most cuts.

Do these machines have gibbs or anything which require tightening up from time to time?

Thanks

If the machines have solid (Box) Slide-ways, yes. If Linear, Recirculating ball Slide-ways, no.

A common contributor, other than inappropriate tooling and cutting data, is Ball Screw and Nut Backlash.
