FANUC 18-M Network Setup Help

We have an old KAO Ming machine with a Fanuc 18-M controller that we are having trouble getting connected to the network. We have an adapter that allows us to connect the ethernet cable to a DB25 port. We are wanting this machine to be able to pull tapes via FTP. On the controller I was able to locate the screen where we enter the IP address of our FTP server as well as enter an IP address and Subnet Mask for the machine. I have done each of these things, however I am unable to ping the machine.

I was able connect a laptop to that same ethernet line and the laptop was able to pickup an IP address via DHCP. I then manually assigned the laptop an IP and I was able to ping the laptop from another computer on our network. This tells me that the ethernet line is good and it must be something with the machine that I'm either missing or something is broke. Any ideas? Does anyone have instructions for setting up the network on a Fanuc 18-M controller?
