Fanuc 6m "manual absolute" switch

So do I place the switch on or off???

Was reading another thread and this came up.....switch is located inside the control box.

Why is it there??

Other thread said left on causes a lot of crashes.......???

Leave it ON.
This way you can toggle between absolute and incremental.
Turning it off, the machine is stuck in incremental and bad things could happen.
 
Normally keep it switched on. When switched off, any manual movement shifts absolute zero. Possibly good for adjusting the origin for castings that vary in size.

IME, this is the primary application for that function.

Many folks hardwire that signal on because accidentally turning it off has been at the toot of many crashes with operators unknowledgeable in its function/behavior
