Fanuc alarm 114 clarification.

The operators manual says that Alarm 114 is,

"There is an error in other formats than (Formula). Modify the program."

I'm not sure if it's just me:dunce: but I really have no idea what the hell this alarm description means. I looked over the code briefly and nothing seems out of place.

Any Clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Believe it or not, alarm 114 can be triggered by nesting parentheses in a comment.
This will cause the alarm: (1/2" (0.500) DRILL)

On a Sharp SV-2412 mill with a Fanuc 0i-m control, removing the comment that contained the nested parentheses allowed my program to run.
The problem is difficult to diagnose because the program you are running has no obvious errors... but the nested parentheses get caught up in the tool-change macro (program O9001).

Hope this helps others!

Roger
