Fanuc G10, L50 vs. L52?

While I was thinking about replying to another thread (https://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/cnc-machining/fanuc-18i-mb-spindle-orientation-g10-365630/) I came across this quandary.

I am familiar with using G10 L50 to change parameters, I do it often enough and it always did what I expected it to.

Googling this, I discover people talking about G10 L52 to change parameters. So what does L52 do specifically? How does it differ from L50?

Can't find any real documentation that covers this properly...
 
It's a change Fanuc made when they released the D series control.
The historic controls OiC, OiB, OiA, 21, 18, &16 were all built on the same platform which used L50.
OiD and onwards (latest OiF) are all built on the 30/31 architecture which uses L52.

So they are functionally identical?

I do have a OiD, but it's just a basic lathe, never needed to use this on that machine...
