Fanuc robodrill tool offset and work offset and oh! renishaw probe...

Hi everyone,

Can someone help me make sense of this, I am trying to setup the z work offsets in relation to the tools height offsets on this Fanuc machine.

Control is Fanuc 31i model-A, 14 tools.

I have managed to measure tools with the renishaw probe. :nutter:

And tried setting up the G54 z work offset by measuring tool no.1 to the height of the part without much success. :scratchchin:

Is there documentation on the net I could read or a good video on the subject? :reading:

The z0 position is at the top of the machine.

I am not getting much results but will work till I drop on this. :wall:

Please help me find a solution if you will!

Go to work offset, touch part with known tool. Type Z ( length of tool) press measure.

Hi Sakis,

I have spent more time on this last night to realize that I was not looking at the problem the right way. :reading:

I am about to do some more testing on the machine and will use your input and setup the machine properly.

I have a test program and will look closely at the machine behavior in slow motion, tool height compensation (G43) is probably what was missing yesterday.
