I don't do a lot of turning, but have been thinking about buying on the used market since I can't justify the cost of new.
All of my parts can be turned from 1-1/4" bar.
If adding live tooling, then maybe 2" bar would give me ability to do live tool bar feed parts.
At this point, it almost seems a step backwards to get just a 2 axis lathe, so live tooling is needed.
No exotic or tough materials. Alloy and carbon steels, brass, bronze, aluminum.
Of course the big holdup is always money. Figure a budget of $35-40k.
What are your recommendations and what would you stay away from with a 10 foot pole.
