    Default HMC work offsets

    Hi all,
Im shlomi, a young manufacturing engineer.

Id like to know please only about horizontal machining centers, how are work offsets taken if say id like my zero to be on a bore facing up?
The spindle probe obviously cant reach this point.
Maybe by placing that bore above the center bore of the table?

Thanks in advance, as you can see im a newbie so help would be appreciated.

sometimes a special round plate with shoulder sits tightly in the large bore and this plate has a center hole that a shaft also with a shoulder goes into. the shaft sticks up centered on the locating bore and this shaft is probed.
    .
if bore is small than the plate and shaft can be one piece. if bore is 10" or bigger dia than often a round plate with OD shoulder and ID small bore and a small shaft with shoulder goes in the large plates small center bore is used
    .
small construction ball or locator pins also might work, obviously the higher you go and if you are leaning it gives a error from the leaning
