Hi guys,

I want to program a back-chamfer to deburr this cross hole:

(I can't use a Burr-Away or similar because of the step.)

Does Mastercam have understanding of back-chamfer, or do I have to fake it? I tried choosing a dovetail cutter, but in Cut Parameters, Mastercam complains, "Warning - invalid tool type for chamfer. Use chamfer, spherical, or bull mill." Also tried creating a chamfer tool with negative angle, but that's not allowed either.

As this is a 3D chamfer with adjustments to the start and stop to not gouge the step, I'd really like to not hand-code it.

Thanks, and regards.

Mike

No faking, you use a 3D toolpaths. model up your chamfer on the backside. I prefer surfaces, then flow line Toolpath. Use a lollipop cutter and turn of the gouge checking. That's it. Flowing and surface finish contour are the only 3d toolpaths that support undercuts.
