Default How to home my cnc lathe

Hi im very new to cnc lathing so have been devouring as much content as possible.

    I've got a bridgeport itl400 lathe with a fanuc 21i-T control.

I cannot see anyway of returning the machine to its "home" position. The manual and most videos I've seen seem to have a home key but its not on my control pad.

Im following a tutorial which suggests the machine needs to be homed before inputting work offset.

Also can anyone shed any light on whether this is the TA or TB version.

    Please see pics attached

    Many thanks

At powerup you often jog the machine into the home switches, or toward the home position at least and it does the rest. After it's been homed you can use MDI to send it home.

It is strange that there are is no ref return button. I would try the jog.

Looking at the "machine" coordinates it looks as if the machine home position is somewhere behind the chuck.

My machine does not have a turret if that makes any difference.

Has it got a set of batteries or a single battery connected to the servo drives? I have a 21TB control that has homing switches and no battery for the servo drive and a 21i-T which has an extra battery in the servo drive for the absolute encoders and doesn't need homing.

Jog the turret towards the chuck in Z and in X. Then switch to MDI and do g28 u0. and then g28 w0. Might be one of those odd machines that you need to do everything on MDI.
Even if it has absolute encoders, it's still very weird not to see a Home button.
