How To Machine Elliptical ID Groove In Bushing? Screenshots Attached

Have a customer that has some bushings that need an elliptical internal groove. I have attached a couple screenshots. Any ideas how to do this? Bore dimension is in the 2.25 range. Thanksswage1.jpgswage2.jpg
 
Yes the person on YouTube is way more inventive then I. That is slick.

If the groove profiles are rounded and not too terribly deep, all I have is possible milling arcs in the ZX or ZY plains with a 270 degree full ball mill from Harvey. Would be fun to try and program it. I will admit that the cutting tool would see every angle of attack known to mankind.

I do this everyday.

Old school way is with a machine called a Fischer oil groover. It works much like the video Larry posted.

New school way is in a C axis lathe, with a modified grooving insert. Modified in such a way to provide lots of relief below the cutting edge. Starting in a pre-drilled hole, the program is just a combination of C/Z moves which are dependent on the size of the bushing/bearing.
