Hi all. I have just bought a very good condition (like new) 1996 Hurco Hawk with Ultimax SSM control. Its much the same as my 2004 VM1 with Ultimax but the one feature Im really missing which my Vm1 has is the touch screen for picking contours off of DXF files. The Hawks controller moves the cursor around the screen with directional soft keys (up, down, left, right ect.) and its really a slow processes.
My question being, is it possible to retrofit an external track ball like on the twin-screen ultimax units. This would speed things up no end. Iv had a look inside the controller and there seems to be a few spare PCB D-Sub type connectors on the board but Iv no diagram for the board so not sure what these are used for.
Just throwing the question out there to see if anyone else figured a way of improving this process.
