Hey guys,

My name is ARB and I have a little secret.
:D

I joined the you know what club!

Set up is on Monday.
I can't wait.

We will see about the 1180 rapid thing now. ;)

Now, don't you feel better that you've got that off your shoulders?

What a sweety. Post some machine porn once she's running.

Turning to the Darkside?

ARB you have crossed over and consumed the forbidden fruit. Oh for Shame (yeah right!). Those little Sharps do look nice.:) However we need more pictures to fully admire the asset. Is it camera shy?

I am also curious about the rapids thing. When the Litz Hi-Tech arrives this week, we will test drive and see if it really cranks out 39 meters or 1404 inches per min. Those rapids give me the chills ( better that saying boner:eek:). It is still nice to have new machine day in the Man Cave.:D

You do realize that now you will have to polish it and don't forget to use speed wax.:)

Hey buddy good for you, looks great. What taper and options do you have? I know some people will disagree with me but if it was my machine I would keep the rapids at 50% for the first few days of full production, but thats just my opinion. again, congrats !!!

Here is another less glamorous shot on the way in the door.

Chip Conveyor

Nothing like a new machine in the man cave.

SWMBO wanted a Cadillac CTS for Valentines Day

But got this instead.;)

I will put up some more porn after it is running.

I spent most of the day just moving stock and other machines around to make room for this puppy.

I'll shine it up tomorrow.:)

Looks really nice I see you have a proper chip conveyor as well. There are days that my auger can not keep up wish I could have one of those.

Do tell more, maybe a vid or two. Looks like a great machine.

Welcome to the club ARB :)

You're about to have a lot of fun. One good thing about people buying so many of things - lots of free advice. I just hooked up an Mcode and a 110v solenoid to run a cutter air blast on mine + I figured out how to hook up a Renishaw OMI/MP700 combo with a little help from Charlton and a lot of mickey mousing around. Made me smile for the last 2 days. It also saved me the $6000 Renishaw was going to charge for doing the same thing. Anyone else decides to do this, I'd happy to play tech support for them.

What are you using for 3 phase ? How about cutters and toolholders and such ? And what do you plan to be cutting on this Al ? with the higher spindle speeds ?

Happy trails.

I use a Phase Perfect phase converter to make my 3 phase.
Real nice option.

Mostly I cut A356 cast aluminum but some ZA12. When I get into mold work it varies from 7075 to P20 to Meehanite. Pretty broad spectrum of materials but no Nickel based stuff.:)

I run mostly ER20 collet chucks with some ER32 thrown in for fun.

The endmills are almost exclusively Duramill brand but I am going to be switching to the Variable ZrN coated tools from Lake Shore Carbide for some of the work.

This machine is to add capacity so I can do more mold work without killing the production work. I like both but it is hard to do both on the same machine at the same time.:)

Now I just need to decide on a pallet system for it. I am leaning toward one of the Pierson manual deals. If I can find a small used Midaco I would like another one of these. I currently have one on the VF3 and would not trade it for anything. Way to handy.

There is secret handshake but we can't show you because it is a secret.:D

No confession needed

:D No confession needed here just enjoy the sweet little girl you won't be sorry you aquired such a fine machine.
Sorry to say a secret handshake will be tough on line ;). But welcome to the club. see PM.

I am envying that conveyor!

I got the auger for mine, I thought "how many chips can a "mini mill' make after all?

I do mold work on mine, too, including hard milling.
I am running a h-13 job now, cuts great on the little mill. I am running 1/2 variable flute, .1 stepover,.810doc, 6800 rpm at 80ipm, the augur cant get the chips out fast enough but the mill sounds great!

not very observant

Good observation Don, I walk past mine many times a day and never noticed that huge superman S. It is rather trashy looking. Guess I need to look at all the machines a little more, instead of what its doing if anything. Now I'm wondering if all the Mazak's have a big M I never noticed

Super Mill to the rescue!!

Isn't it First that makes the machines and private labels them for Sharp (according to a recent post - it's First). Maybe if you take off the superman emblem it will have a "F" under it. It is a bit gaudy.:D

Can you get it cheaper if you have them leave the "S" off, it's probably precious metal.:)
