Iron Casting Pattern Design

Does anyone on here have experience with pattern making and design?
I am in need of a good instructor for our foundry that is insourcing a lot from China and need help.

It seems this is somewhat of a lost art and very few in the states still make patterns and I have found no resources online for classes.

If anyone knows of any good textbooks that would be welcome as well.

I've done some pattern work, but woodn't [sic] consider myself an expert. Are you talking large patterns, small, simple, complex?? More details will help. With complex patterns, figuring it out is like a jigsaw puzzle.

There's also a fair amount on Youtube, and at least in some ways, modern CAM and CNC make moderate sized patterns fairly easy to make. The art is in figuring out where to have feeders and sprues and conceptualize the flow of the metal, to ensure proper filling with no voids and cold shuts and the like. That aspect is something your foundry should already be competent at.
