Hi,

I am working on a brass item. The item is machined on several setups in a CNC Machine. We are able to get all the dimensions right, but knurling is something that is causing some issues.

When we apply knurling in the final setup, we see cracks developed around the knurling surface which is not acceptable to our customer.

Do you guys recommend any specific type of holders? Also what is the feed and speed you would recommend for knurling.

We are using form knurling since the diameter is quite small.

WHat feed and speed do you recommend for Brass

How small is quite small? Diameters?
Are you using flood coolant? Or oil?

Pretty sure they make cut knurl down to some small diameters. I think one of the ones I have can go down to about 8mm and it’s a pretty large unit.
