Good afternoon! I am looking at purchasing a interferometer laser system. The main goal of this system is to calibrate and improve the accuracy of our linear and rotary measurement systems. Right now, I am considering the Renishaw XL80 and API XD6. I'd also be purchasing the rotary calibration component, the XR20-w or Swivelcheck.
Our shop has 40 machines, varying from small 3 axis vertical machining centers up to large 14 meter gantry mills. We are trying to keep all repair and calibration work in house, and laser compensation can be a big cost with the # of machines we have.
Does anyone have any experience with XL80 or XD6 system? Which would you buy and why? Are there any others systems I should be considering? Any input would be much appreciated.
