We are looking to run parts starting from 4-6inch aluminum barstock. Parts can be up to 4 inches long also. Just looking for a reliable machine that isnt too old and beat up. Anybody have insight?

Quantity of parts? Budget? What kind of tolerances are you wanting to hold? The 5axis world can be pretty broad depending on what you are looking for.

We are starting to make small parts for model r/c monster trucks. Parts like motor mounts, body parts, and wheels. Pretty straight forward. No need for a super accurate tolerance

Mid 90s Fadal 4020 with extended Z and a 4th/5th rotary table. Should cost about $30k. You will not find cheaper worth having. Not too beat up is an exercise left to the reader.

Anybody heard of tormach cnc's? They dont make a 5 axis but maybe i can acheive what im trying to do with a 3 axis mill and a seperate lathe. For the price they look great

Consensus of this forum is to avoid Tormach machines for serious work. They're probably fine for a hobbyist with money, but don't have the stiffness, power, or (when optioned) value that a good used "real" machine offers.
