Default M198 on Data Server with Fanuc 31I

    Hi Again,

Im trying to figure out this Sub call with M198 on the Data server, but I get an alarm "1079 PROGRAM FILE NOT FOUND"

The data server is in FTP mode, and I understand that I have to make an M198 operation folder, but how do I tell the control what folder is used for M198?

When I read in the manual, it also says that I have to set the CNC to MEM mode. What is MEM mode?

This is for the lights out machining that I had an thread about earlier this year, having an program calling sub programs for every offset, is much easyer than combining 4 huge programs to one...

The main program looks like this:

    %
    O1000(NIGHT)
    G54
    M198P1054
    G55
    M198P1055
    G56
    M198P1056
    G57
    M198P1057
    G58
    M198P1058
    G59
    M198P1059
    M30
    %

File numbers is on Data Server is O1054-O1059.

    Cheers, Daniel

You must first set a folder to be used for DNC/M198 calls. Find the folder that the programs you want are in, soft key over (OPRT) until you see "M198 SET". Also, parameter #3233.1 (page 54) must be set. to "0". Check the Fanuc Data Server Manual. the instructions are clearly defined. (page 106)

    Thanks:-)

I'm on my own with this stuff, this forum is the only place I can get help with this control. So I'm really thankful for the replies I get from people around the world!

I will try that tomorrow morning and see what I can do:-)

    Cheers

    Hi,

#3233 is set to 0. Still got nothing, but I now know where the folder is set:-)

    Picture:
    img_0175.jpg

But I still get the error:
    img_0176.jpg

I made a new Main program and Sub.

    %
    O1000 (M198 MAIN CALL)
    M198 P0001
    M30
    %

    %
    O0001(M198 TEST)
    G4P5000
    M99
    %

I have tried removing the extension (.NC) of the sub file, and that didn't help at all.

Any parameters I have to do something with?

Parameter 20 is set to 5 (Data Server)
#3233 is set to 0 (M198 Operation folders and DNC operation files can be set)

I must admit that this is my first go at sub programs....

    Edit:
I have to check #3404 bit 2 SBP is set to 1 for M198 reading program number and not file number, or the other way around?

What is the correct setting of #6030?

From the manual downloaded to my Ipad, search function is great:-)

Specify a program number (file number) registered in an external device at address P. If the specified program number (file number) is not registered in the connected external device, an alarm (PS1079) is issued.

Is this a program without the O in front? Or what?

Totally noob with this, always named the files G54-59.NC, as mentioned before, I only do one part machining, not production:-)

    Cheers, Daniel

    Hi Paul,

Do you have an sub program that works that I can see?

Didn't have time to try anything today, programming and milling all day, and the machine is running now, and I'm on the road for the weekend:-)

Well, called the tec department where the machine was bought today. They took a look at the parameters on an machine they have at their showroom, and they are the same... Have to call them tomorrow morning, to continue our search on why I can't call M198 from the CNC memory.

Well, I can call M98 a program from the Data Server, if the sub is in the same folder. I will do that for now...

    Cheers, Daniel

    Hello Daniel,

We have been trying to execute M198 External Subprogram call over FTP. Our Parameter settings are same as your settings and we get "PS1079 Program File Not Found" error as well. If you could kindly share with us the missing steps or point us to the right direction, it would be really helpful.

P.S. We're aware that it has been more than 4 years, still any help is much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Jayakumar

    Hello Daniel,

Please don't mind to reply, "PS1079" error has been resolved.

The subprogram files ".NC" extension has to be removed.

    Thank you,
    Jayakumar
