machine won't home Z lag over max

I have a cnc mill with an Anilam 3300Mk control. When we went to home the machine, it immediately shuts down and we get an error message of "Z lag over max" and it shuts down the servos.
What should I be checking to solve this problem.

If it has DC motors, check the brushes. They may be worn out or stuck in the brush holders, preventing the motor from turning or having enough torque to properly move the axis.

If there is a Z axis brake, insure that it is releasing properly.

There may be other mechanical binding that prevents movement, non functional lube system, dried coolant sticking to the ways and the like.

Insure that the parameter for the max lag is still the correct value.

And lastly, the encoder may not be working properly. Full of oil or coolant, broken coupling etc.

Be sure it is past the deceleration limit.

Thanks for the input. I think and hope it is a parameter needs to be reset. Now if I can figure out how to access the correct page.

Sounds like the servo drive may need to be tuned.
