Is the rapid override set to 100%?
You may want to check with Mazak, but I've seen machines where the control was parameter-ed down so that rapids wouldn't exceed a certain amount.
Mazaks are generally fast, so you way want to start there.
What is the actual rapid speed it's hitting now? A quick turn of that vintage should have a rapid rate around 20m/min (787 IPM). If that is what it's doing now then you don't want to speed it up, unless you like replacing ball screws.
