Hi everyone I'm new here so please forgive any mistakes. today on my mazak h400 while just drilling a .44" hole 1.5" deep I got An AFC overload alarm and machine stopped. I know it's adaptive feed control but how do I fix it so it stops shutting down? there doesnt seem to be a problems as far as I can tell.

Searching google for "Mazak Adaptive Feed Control" returns to our beloved PM:

125 afc overload alarm

As I suspected, the AFC monitors spindle load and stops the machine if it's too high. I can't help beyond that, though, sorry.

Look at the tool data for that tool. There should be a 2 fields, one for Thrust Force and the other for Horsepower. One or both of those fields has a value that is limiting the amount of spindle load or Z axis load the tool can experience. AFC works by slowing down the feed if the load exceeds the value at first, if it goes over that load past a certain threshold the machine will stop because it thinks the tool is broken. If you want to turn off AFC just set them both to 0.
