I have a Miyano BNC34 cnc lathe that has been sitting idle for a number of years. At first, everything worked fine, never got any jobs for it, grinding is my business. Recently powered it up to show a prospective buyer and everything worked except the turret wouldn't index. Could it just be stuck from sitting idle for years ? Any ideas would be helpful to a computer illiterate like me!

Do you hear or see anything when you try to index?
Is there an Air Line involved? (Valve opened? compressor on?)
Will it index or try to index in MDI or under a program's control?

On my BNC-34S, the turret indexing is done with a hydraulic motor. There are two solenoid valves on the back of the turret that control the indexing. They are really easy to find at the back of the machine. I believe one is to index one direction, the other is to index in the opposite direction. I have had the valves get stuck before. You can stick a small allen wrench into the end of the valve to manually shift the spool. This might free it up if its stuck.
