Hey All. Back again with another quandary. I have a 1985 year Slant 1, great machine. Recently with the cold weather it does a bit of "moaning" from the spindle assembly. Usually under 1000rpm, and if i stop the spindle and restart it, it goes away for a bit. Im guessing that these are standard grease bearings and the cold (50F) shop temps are to blame, but the spindle housing has what looks like a drain and fill on the casing. My manual is for a 2 speed lathe, which I dont have, its just s single speed setup, so it doesnt cover what (if any) spindle oil it needs. Id hate to have to rebuild this thing. Our new shop is not nearly as insulated as our last, and its been hard to get machines up to 70F where we like to start them up.
