We are trying to cut an M6 x 1 thread on a rod but cannot figure out how to do it. You don't seem to be able to enter 25.4 for the TPI using the IGF programming. It won't accept the decimal point. Could someone please let me know how to do this? Even a sample of a line of code I can manually enter in the program would be great.

Thanks much

Steve

G71 X...Z-...D...H.0788+...F.03937(1 mm)

D=depth of cut
H=thread height on diameter(I add a bit to avoid truncheon)

Some people use M73 and M33 at the end, I don't.

You could also "post" it out of IGF with any arbitrary number in there then just change the F to F1/25.4 (.03937...). The machine should be able to read fractions unless a 700 control is different than all of the OSP I have run down to the 5000 series. For decimals that work out perfectly I can't imagine how it could be any different but I have been told by apps engineers from Okuma to use F1/16 instead of F.0625 for accuracy. I assume that is more so to avoid rounding issues in long threads.
