Please Help, I am getting frustrated! My Machine is stopping the arc before it finishes running the code
why is my cnc machine moving before it has an arc? I have successfully loaded the gcode into mach3, and it will cut out most of the image, but on the beginning and the end, the arm will move without the arc, leaving the design unfinished.

Post your code so we can look at it.

Most machines have a pierce time on the machine. To compensate for the material thickness it just sits there and waits after pierce then takes off with the code. I don’t think you will see anything in the code it is at the machine control where it needs set

Dwell time for piece is in the G-code. I have never seen and don't know of any other way to control it. The controller just waits for an arc OK signal IF it is configured to do so, not piece, which I highly doubt it is configured to do in this case. Hopefully we can get this sorted out so the order of batmobile emblems ship on time......

I have a burny three when you first load the program to it it ask the pierce time. The g code comes from mastercam and I guarantee you there is no code for the material thickness in it anywhere

That's interesting, I've never played with a Lincoln. I know for a fact mach 3 does not operate that way and requires a G04 time after M03.

My table doesn’t use feed either. That is done on the machine control also. I guess the program mine uses could be used on any thickness of material being it is all set on control panel. Maybe someone can help you out better then I.

Thanks for all of the replies!

First, Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply.

I am using Fusion 360 for the CAD/CAM and Mach3 to run the code with the cnc plasma (thermaldynamics cutmaster 42 on a Langmuir Systems Table)

Any help would be appreciated, it seems that the pilot arc does not start until after the machine is already in motion. I have been trying over and over all day.
When I press start on Mach3, the arm starts to move immediately, but the plasma arc does not. I have tried on multiple projects and continuously get the same results: everything cuts out fine but it wont arc at the start of the lead-in.

I see it used m5 to shut off arc but m3 to turn it on mine uses m4 to turn on arc maybe that is it

I'll try now and video the result.
Thanks for being so prompt! (did you see my second reply regarding some new and supplemental information?)

I’m not a plasma guy... it kinda looks like your switch is sticking. Could change the feed to 10% for the first line after it turns on, then jump back and see if it cuts a bit more.

I'm no expert in plasma tables but the fact its turning off and stopping at the same location, seems to me ur missing the last few lines of code.

I am fairly new, just a couple years programing at the control of a Haas mill and lathe. Not saying its related more of a question.
I interpret this N40 G4 P800. as a dwell of 800 seconds because it has a period so not milliseconds. That can't be right. What am I missing.

It makes all the correct moves from start to finish. the problem is your plasma doesn't go on till after 2 moves.
its right there in the video.
so over lap the the line or turn your plasma on faster

In Mach3 you can configure it to interpret the P## as either seconds or milliseconds, I have mine set up in seconds so I would enter P0.8

After looking at the video this is likely caused by a delay in the plasma machine itself. If you click torch on when not running a program you will likely see the same delay. The proper fix to this is to add a arc OK feedback to the controller. The workaround is to time how long this delay is and add it to the pierce time.

I'm far from a pro but I've built a couple of industrial plasma tables from scratch in my day. 90% of my business used to be products that the first op was burning them out on the table. Mostly AR500 and 46100E
