Hi Everyone

Been looking for a while with no luck. My lathe uses VDI tooling and I'm looking for a tool holder so that I can make some cuts on the ID when I transfer a work piece to the sub spindle. Essentially something that allows me to mount a boring bar that faces the other way towards the sub spindle. The bar could stick out around 4" before interfering with the turret itself. Anyone know of anything?

Thanks

Take the cap off the back of your current holder and mount it on the other end, and By-George - you've got yourself a sub-spindle boring bar holder!
May need to take the coolant plug from one end and place in the other as well?

Not sure I follow. The holders are VDI as I said. There is no back cap

No - I guess you wouldn't understand if you have THAT kind of turret top plate....

Your tooling all bolts to the face of the turret - and not the OD eh?

I wouldn't have a clue how that would ever werk on a sub-spindle machine.

Is this a [really old] Yamazaki?

You may need to make a holder that would mount in a turning tool holder.

???

I would expect a sub-spindle machine to utilize sumpthing like this:
