I was wondering if any one has experience turning CPM 15V. We run a lot of D2 and a fair amount of 10V in a hardened and un-hardned state, but this will be our first experience with 15V. Parts will be about .200 wide by 7. diameter. We will face off about .03 per side bore to about 2.7 and trim the OD. Any suggested insert grades, SFM, feed rate exc. would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cross

Condition?

Hardened condition right? It will probably be worse than hardened D2. Obviously you are going to need a ceramic (preferably a whiskered ceramic, see Greenleaf Co.) or CBN. I am not sure who makes the best CBN these days, but you will want the appropriate grade for interrupted or non-interrupted cutting, which ever the case may be.
