hello everyone,

due to environmental condtions in india or i dont know it is a fault of cutting oil, good amount of rust presents on tools and tool tapers even they are not on machine. So what can i do?

Can i rub light grease on tool taper or not?
Or can i rub 0 grade sand paper on tool taper for removal of rust?

please give good solution😀

thanks in advance..!!!

Some may be to poor steel. Just an oil rub has turned many parts black over many years of use for toolong and machines. Perhap it is the humidity of your shop. I have used STP motor honey but it is sticky and bugger to clean off.

For years I fought rust in the shop during the summer. The small cost of air conditioning a shop is easily offset by the time saved cleaning and preventing rust. Not to mention increased production from not being sweaty and miserable.

I still tend to coat my high dollar grinding stuff with sp-400 but if that stuff needs to come out the job price will easily cover the cost of cleaning and recoating.

Air Conditioning is the best way going forward, but maybe not feasable.

Maroon Scotch-brite, and only by hand with some wd-40 sprayed on for rust removal, it really depends on how bad the rust is though. (some may prefer emery)

Air oil like most spindles use for lube does well to protect the tapers, it's already running through the spindle etc..

Long Term rust preventative, LPS3 creates a waxy film.

Big kaiser ships their tools with some excellent golden rust preventative, would buy a gallon if I knew what it's called.
